Accompanied by her husband, son, and beautiful daughter whom I'd never met before, the keeper of — and conspirator in — all of my teenage secrets arrived on our doorstep today, just before the snow.
We sat in the cozy chair by the fire, one child or another in our laps, and didn't really say much at all, as though two years hadn't passed since we'd last laid eyes on each other.
The accessories change, and sometimes vast parts of us too, but nothing really needs to be reported, or explained. Being known and knowing like that just feels so good.
